The Difference Between Cheating and An Affair...

Cheating to me is a one time thing-a purely physical attraction. You thought the person was hot, you were drunk, and you couldn't help yourself. You also feel guilty about it.

An affair is a long term relationship that you keep secret from your spouse. You have real feelings for the other person, but don't want to leave your husband or wife just yet.

Jay & Bey have always reminded me of my boyfriend and I. Reason being, they got married on my birthday "404", and their number is the number "4", which is significant to my boyfriend and I because his birthday is "5/24". Also, its significant because the day we met back in 2004, was 12/10..which adds to four! Also, the day we made our relationship "official" was 1/21, which also adds to four! Good Stuff. ;-)

Emotional vs. Physical Infidellity

In terms of infidelity, reaction based on gender bias is no less stark. Men are more apt to get past (notice I didn't say forgive) an emotional transgression than one that is physical or sexual. Why? - Simple; it's a territory thing.

"If you think about trespassing, I'm going to warn you off and take a good look at my fences. If you actually trespass, well that's an entirely different kettle of fish."

There it is -- physical first; emotional second.

Women, on the other hand, are more apt to get past (again, not necessarily forgive) a sexual transgression, rather than an emotional one. Why? - Again, simple; someone is renting space in her partner's head; space that is reserved solely for her.

"If you draw his attention away from me, then I am being disregarded and disrespected by both of you. If you draw his attention only physically, but not emotionally, I can be fairly confident that he's not invested in you, but is still renting all that space to me."

And there's the opposite - emotional first; physical second.

Almond

A symbol of fertility throughout the ages. The aroma is thought to induce passion in a female. Try serving Marzipan (almond paste) in the shapes of fruits for a special after-dinner treat.

Aniseed

As single women, we can be tough on ourselves. We think if we lost 10 pounds, gained 10 pounds, changed our hair or had a different complexion we would find the man of our dreams. We think if we were more assertive, less assertive, quieter, louder, sweeter or sassier we could attract the right man. News flash: The man who will truly fall in love with you loves your body, hair, skin, and personality. You don’t have to put up a front. This doesn’t mean that you won’t have to compromise or keep yourself looking right. However, it does mean that you don’t have to force yourself to be something that you’re not.

You don’t have to chase true love. It runs you down.

We read relationship books and blogs about finding the “right” man. We are told to act like a lady and think like Steve Harvey. We read women’s magazines to get advice on where to find men and how to catch men. From talking to my true love mentors, I’ve learned that they all found love when they weren’t looking and often in the most unexpected places. You should go out, have fun and be open to meeting men. However, you don’t have to sweat guys who don’t call you back. You don’t have to wear six inch heels to the office because you have a crush on a cutie in the next cubicle. Call me crazy, but I believe that when the time is right, your true love will find you.

True love does not always come in the package you’ve imagined. Be open.

When looking for a partner, we can sometimes approach our quest like we do our work; in a logical, methodical fashion. We try to find the right looks, race, job, and religious beliefs in a potential partner. While, it’s important to know what you want, we’ve all met that guy who has every quality on our list but we can’t muster an ounce of feeling for him. We should acknowledge that there is something intangible that cannot be found simply by combining certain variables; that thing is true love. The man of your dreams may be of a different race, religion or nationality than you expect. For example, one of my closest friends dreamed of marrying a tall, dark, professional, black man, but instead, fell head-over-heels for a Muslim guy from Morocco. She is blissfully happy with him and very glad that she gave him a chance when he hollered.

In my humble opinion, the two most important steps in finding true love are:

1) To believe it exists

2) To cultivate a spirit of openness. You may find love in unexpected places

Truuuuth! I love this article, and when I read it on Madame Noir this morning, I just knew it'd be a perfect post for SIL. The 3 facts expressed in this article are worth paying close attention to, and keeping in mind. The author is presently a single woman, but her insight on relationships and true love is rather impressive. YES, being yourself is the only way to be. Why? You don't want to have to waste your time with a facade, that you won't be able to keep up after awhile, therefore putting your love on the line. Should you let your guard down, and reveal your true colors, your partner may not be pleased, and you could lose this person forever. The very first week I met my boyfriend, we went to a small park near 23rd st. & Broadway, sat on a bench....and he layed it all out on the line for me. It was our very first "long talk", and the subject matter just so happened to be "Destiny". I learned from that conversation, that I was dealing with a real man, who would encourage me to be myself at all costs, as I should. Yes, truth hurts at times, but being lied to and undergoing the 'big reveal', I think hurts MORE.

As for not having to chase love, that is also true. You've probably heard this before... that true love comes when you're not looking for it. Its happened to me, and my partner agrees. When we met on that fateful day back in December of 2004, I had been single for a year, and was so completely hurt by my past relationship, that I had simply decided I would work my butt off, and swear off another relationship for as long as possible. So there you have it. He met me at my company Christmas party, (that he crashed, promoting his DJ'ing gig later that night) and the rest was history. He wasn't a "hook-up", or a blind date, or even a friend of a friend... as was usually the case with the guys I had been involved with prior to him. He just kinda "walked into my life"; And boy am I glad he did.

So many of us have been, or know of folks who are stuck on the "ideal" man/woman. With age, comes maturity... and with maturity comes the acceptance of the fact: THERE IS NO MISTER/MISSES PERFECT. Once people can set their ideals aside, I belive they can actually find a great person they can be happy, and make it work with. We are all flawed, and being accepted for our imperfections is the greatest gift we can give someone, and the greatest gift they can give us in turn. Now, of course there are just certain things you can't put a blind eye to, but many of the common "deal breakers" I see in relationships today, are things I think can be worked on. COMMUNICATION IS KEY. My partner and I discuss everything we are feeling, good or bad, and I truly believe this is the glue to our relationship. If you don't speak on whats bothering you, then you can never have your partner make the effort where its needed... & vice versa. Make your partner one of your best friends, if not THEE best...

Letter from Swizz Beatz' Mistress...

I would like to confirm that the rumor about Swizz Beatz cheating on Mashonda with me is absolutely true. I would also like to confirm that the rumors about Swizz “sexting” me, even in his present marriage, are absolutely true. I am also confirming that I lost my cell phone and someone else posted all the stuff that you see on the internet."

"I’ve known Kasseem since 2007. We met at Solange Knowles’ (whom I do not associate with) birthday party in Houston, TX. A gentleman from Kasseem’s entourage approached me and said that someone wanted to talk to me. After I asked who it was, he pointed at Kasseem. I knew he was 'Swizz Beatz', but I did not know anything else about him. I gave him my phone number and he called me right away and invited me to eat at Katz’ Deli on Montrose Blvd. The next morning, he invited me to accompany him at Radio One (979 The Box) for his interview. Afterwards, we went back to his hotel room but we DID NOT HAVE SEX. A couple of hours later, he had to leave so he could catch his flight. He hugged and kissed me in public as if he were a single man."

The Stepford Wife

This is a girlfriend or family member who seems to have all her stuff together. She’s a devoted wife, a dedicated mother, a delightful daughter etc. She, like you, wears many hats. Fulfilling her various roles with a smile, perfectly precise hair and stilettos. This woman has no desire to steal your beloved from you. But if you keep looking at her “perfection” and comparing yourself to her, your relationship will suffer. You can’t be her because you aren’t her and will never be. Stressing yourself, trying to imitate her seemingly perfect life is a fruitless task that will require so much energy you’ll neglect your relationship. (Pffft. As If!)

Moms

Thank God for Mama. Most of the time she’s just trying to save you from heartache of some sort but in the process she certainly knows how to bring the drama. Whether it’s your boo’s mommy or your own, don’t underestimate her. She’s liable to use guilt trips, idle threats and petty jabs to intentionally or unintentionally present a huge obstacle. (Agreed!)

The Girlfriends

If you’re involved with someone who has a whole heap of female friends they can represent a potential problem when it comes to your romantic situation. Whether one of the friends was an ex who still carries a flame for your boo, or his estrogen crew is extremely protective if the girls don’t like you, you might have to put in some serious work. And let’s not even get on your girlfriends. Whether they’re happy for you or not their input, requested or unsolicited, has the power to turn a good situation bad with a quickness. (This I do not completely agree with. It all depends on how strong YOU ARE. Girl friends will always offer up advice, but you don't always have to take it. You know your partner better than they do, so the final judgement on any matter will be yours to make.)

The Baby Mama

The baby mama is 10 times worse than any regular ex because she has to maintain some type of contact with your honey bump for the rest of her life. If she’s something like a pill it can be a daunting realization but if he didn’t want anything to do with the mother of his children that would be equally suspect. The only way she can ruin your relationship is if your man is not over her or is your devote your time to worrying what she’s doing and not focusing your energy into maintaining your relationship. (All I can say is I THANK THE LORD ABOVE I don't have to deal with any of this!)

What I've been witness to in my own life & the lives of others, are the breaking up of relationships, of all kinds, and sometimes you're left to wonder: Why?

Usually, it's because someone didn't hold their end. Look at the bond between two people as a rope. You both have a firm grip on both ends in the beginning, so you are held closely to one another. Then, someone else gives you a rope. Fine. You have two hands, so you can hold both. Then, here comes a Third person, or thing that needs you to hold their opposite end of rope to stay afloat. Fine, you'll grip these individual ropes between your fingers. But as more people & things come to form relations with you, you may lose hold of what once was...leaving the person on the other end to feel neglected, or just simply left hanging. Such is life. This has happened to me, and I have also done this. As a quick example, I haven't gone to church regularly for 7 years now. It sounds criminal, I know, but it's funny I am closer to God now than I've ever been.

So yes, the number 1 reason relationships don't last is because someone let go... for whatever reasons... but it may not always be a negative thing. Sometimes it's for the best. Maybe that person/place didn't deserve your commitment. There is but so much one can say or do to salvage a relationship. Commitment to one another must be formed & tied at both ends. This falling out of sorts can especially be seen in long distance relationships. Yes, in this day and age we have Phone/Text/Internet as a means of keeping in touch, but that doesn't always cut it for some. I know a couple folks whose long distance partnerships failed because there is nothing like being present with someone. Live, in-the-flesh chemistry could and would be exchanged that you simply can't get from an instant message.

So if you know you've worked at giving your best in a relationship and it didnt last, just move forward, carrying lessons learned, and love harbored. Always trust that God's will be done in your life & that of your loved ones.

.... A question I've heard countless times. I understand the confusion that love may bring, because feelings can be a bit tricky. It is human nature to be turned on and enamored by a person when things are good. When we are being courted with gifts, when countless time is being spent with one another, when the sex is great, etc........ But those things only tie two individuals for the moment. True love withstands hardships, and endures pain.

Back to the question at hand: "Can you love two people at the same time"? Indeed yes, you can. I have, and I can attest that to the type of loving individual I am. It is in my nature, by default, not to get involved with something or someone for some time unless my heart is in it. Whether it was thru friendship, or casual courtship, I'd be dedicated to the individual. Therefore, they would always have my love. You don't just have love for someone....then have nothing for that person. (Unless you never really had love for them to begin with.) Whether you grow apart, or you become a distant memory due to different roads traveled in life, love that was; is... and will continue to be.

Now to be in love, and to love... are two separate things. I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU CAN BE IN LOVE WITH TWO PEOPLE AT THE SAME TIME. I've never felt this way, and I do not see my mind (or heart) changing on that matter. Being in love with someone requires that you give yourself in full (body, mind, soul, & spirit), and since there is only one me, and one you, there will be only one individual, we can give our all to. And this person, will be the benefactor of our love in full...

I find it very important and extremely COURAGEOUS of Justin. In a world where the truth is frowned upon, and God is being removed from every facet of modern-day life, its important that the millions of "Bieliebers" out there acknowlege who the ONE TRUE GOD IS.

Christ himself stated: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

(The Father being "God", The Son being "Jesus", and The Holy Spirit completes the HOLY TRINITY.)

The other day, I said "Mom, I've had you my whole life" as I squeezed her in a tight embrace.
"I want you around, my whole life" I continued. She responded: "Think before you act, and you will have me your whole life." I must've raised a brow, cause she then uttered: "For example, lets say you marry the wrong person"... "Then you won't have me".

& That is my mother. Always speaking in proverbs and such. She is highly intelligent, and I know now that the overt concern she's shown me throughout my entire life is all due to the love she has for me.

Pastor David Wilkerson was truly a God-fearing individual. I grew up in Times Square Church, being a member of the Choir, and the Youth Group. We were all so blessed to be under his leadership, a TRUE man of God. Always instilling the WORD of God, and not his own.

*That is ME to the right of the word's "Children's Choir". I had a Solo on the album, and I sang it in French! :-)

Pastor David, I am grateful to have been a member of TSC, and to have heard countless sermons from you, a TRUE man of God. YOU WILL BE MISSED.

WHEN ALL MEANS FAIL

To believe when all means fail is exceedingly pleasing to God and is most acceptable. Jesus said to Thomas, “You have believed because you have seen, but blessed are those that do believe and have not seen” (John 20:29).

Blessed are those who believe when there is no evidence of an answer to prayer—who trust beyond hope when all means have failed.

Someone has come to the place of hopelessness—the end of hope—the end of all means. A loved one is facing death and doctors give no hope. Death seems inevitable. Hope is gone. The miracle prayed for is not happening.

That is when Satan’s hordes come to attack your mind with fear, anger, overwhelming questions: “Where is your God now? You prayed until you had no tears left. You fasted. You stood on promises. You trusted.”

Blasphemous thoughts will be injected into your mind: “Prayer failed. Faith failed. Don’t quit on God—just do not trust him anymore. It doesn’t pay!”

Even questioning God’s existence will be injected into your mind. These have been the devices of Satan for centuries. Some of the godliest men and women who ever lived were under such demonic attacks.

To those going through the valley and shadow of death, hear this word: Weeping will last through some dark, awful nights—and in that darkness you will soon hear the Father whisper, “I am with you. I cannot tell you why right now, but one day it will all make sense. You will see it was all part of my plan. It was no accident. It was no failure on your part. Hold fast. Let me embrace you in your hour of pain.”

Beloved, God has never failed to act but in goodness and love. When all means fail—his love prevails. Hold fast to your faith. Stand fast in his Word. There is no other hope in this world.
